Distance is a survival racing game that combines the intense action of arcade racing with the exploration of an atmospheric world. You control a unique car that allows you to boost, jump, rotate, and even fly through a chaotic and twisted city. The world has a mysterious history, and as you explore you’ll be able to uncover pieces of its past. The game is a spiritual successor to the multi-award winning game Nitronic Rush, created by ourselves and 8 others while attending DigiPen Institute of Technology.
We decided to fund the game via Kickstarter because we see it as an incredible opportunity to get players involved in the development of the game right from the beginning. While the Kickstarter campaign has finished, you can still back it using PayPal and get access to Kickstarter rewards: back Distance on PayPal!
Nitronic Rush is an experimental survival driving game. Using the car’s many abilities you must avoid obstacles that the city throws at you. In many ways the game is a tribute to racing games of the 1990s, but with fresh graphics, audio, and gameplay. I was the audio director, sound designer, lead composer, and PR manager on Team Nitronic.
Solace is an interactive aesthetic experience, utilizing dynamic audio and bullet hell overtones to provide a unique perspective on the five stages of grief. I was the Producer on the team, wrote a bunch of game logic, and I composed the all of game’s dynamic music.
Solstice is a short story expressed through music-driven exploration gameplay, using the Microsoft Kinect SDK. I was the Producer, sound designer, and composer on the team. I also helped with overall design direction, level design, and tons of gameplay logic.
